Dr. Spyros Orfanos

Spyros D. Orfanos, PhD., ABPP is Clinic Director at the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. He is a Founding Board Member of the Stephen Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. He is past president of the International Association of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, the Division of Psychoanalysis (39) of the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Psychoanalysis of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Orfanos is a national and international lecturer, and writes about clinical process, creativity, culture, and the arts. Recently, he co-edited a special online issue of Psychoanalytic Psychology titled: “It Takes Two To Tango: Psychoanalysis and the Humanities.” He is in independent clinical practice in NYC and Montclair, NJ and also runs supervision and creativity study groups. He supervises in group format for 1,5 hours, every 2 weeks, 3 Founding Members of the Institute for Relational and Group Psychotherapy for individual analytic cases , Stavros Charalambides and Kostas Mathioudis since 2011 and Faidra Grammenou since 2015 .
