Describes the use of cognitive-analytic therapeutic methods in a time-limited (12-wk) group. The group consisted of 8 Ss (aged 18–50 yrs) with neurotic and personality disorders. The group met weekly for 1.5 hrs over a 12-wk period. The combination of preparatory sessions, in which reformulations were done, and the time-limited nature of the group, and the use of sequential diagrammatic reformulations within the meetings, resulted in the early development of a high level of activity and commitment from the Ss and therapists. Time-limited group cognitive-analytic therapy may be an effective and economical use of scarce resources.
