Describes the application of methods developed for individual work in cognitive-analytic therapy as applied to a time-limited group of 8 19–37 yr olds. Diagnoses of members were as follows: 3 borderline personality disorders, 1 narcissistic personality disorder, 1 depressive with a dependent personality disorder, 1 panic disorder with passive-aggressive personality disorder, 1 with a history of brief reactive psychosis, and 1 obsessive-compulsive disorder. Written and diagrammatic reformulation of patients' problems, prepared in pregroup individual sessions, were shared in the group and served to heighten the group process. The group course of a 34-yr-old single man with narcissistic personality is presented as illustrative.
